Diagnostic Tools and Surveys

Family businesses, and business families, are complex systems with many moving parts and lots of hidden connections.  “Normal” rational and commercial thinking and traditional business services can’t adequately diagnose, understand, and respond to most business family’s broad spread of needs.

Like other complex projects, the likelihood of a successful outcome is directly related to the quality of the adviser’s initial understanding, planning and preparation.  These rely on developing a reasonably clear idea of the main causes of the real issues, before trying to work out what needs to be done to address them in appropriate ways.

It can take some time to work out how to do what’s needed.  Only when we get there can we responsibly design the approach required to address identified challenges in ways that are likely to produce successful outcomes for the family and business.  Advisers should always try to start, and stay on, a proactive front foot – which means starting by de-constructing the situation.

Yes, we do regard diagnostics as important!
